Michael Vick Talks About ‘Petty’ Thumb Injury

Michael Vick‘s thumb still looked a little swollen Saturday as he exited the Varsity House following the morning walkthrough, and was squeezing a Play-Doh-like compound to help get the soreness out. In terms of the injuries the quarterback has endured over his nine-plus seasons in the NFL, though, this one barely registers.

“This injury is really in the way right now. It’s petty,” said Vick, who intends to practice Saturday afternoon. “There’s a little soreness that I have, but this is the type of injury I’ve been dealing with throughout my career, so it’s really minor.”

Andy Reid described it as a “stinger” on the nerve on top of Vick’s thumb.

Vick said he sustained the same type of injury against the Redskins in the regular-season finale last season, and knows how to deal with it.

This injury happened in the second quarter against the Steelers Thursday night. Vick moved up in the pocket when Demetress Bell was beat by linebacker Chris Carter and hit his hand on the back of Jason Kelce‘s helmet during his follow-through.

Turns out, it was not the most serious injury to an Eagles quarterback in the game, as Reid revealed that Mike Kafka will be sidelined for 2-3 weeks with a fracture in his non-throwing hand.
