Yup, it’s fiiiiinally happening. Five months after our friends on Foobooz broke the news that D.C.-based Sweetgreen had signed a lease at 924 Walnut Street, a company rep tells me they’re set to open next week.

Right now, the cafe is putting the finishing touches on the space. Sweetgreen spokesperson Ellyn Quigg says the new space will open on Wednesday, March 26th, for a special pay-what-you-want promotion with limited hours (more on that in a sec) and for regular business hours on Thursday the 27th.

On the 26th, they’ll do the pay-what-you-want dealio from 11 a.m to 4 p.m., where you can pay what you’d like (duh) for Sweetgreen’s goods: salads, wraps, soup and more. Proceeds from the grand opening promotion will go to Fair Food Philly. l

In addition, Sweetgreen is hosting a sneak preview day this weekend, with free lunch and a free workout to boot. On Sunday from 1:30 to 2:45 p.m., Sweetgreen customers can take a free hot yoga class at Philly Power Yoga. (RSVP required here.) Then, you can go to the yet-to-open Center City cafe for free lunch.

The Center City location will be the third in our area. The other two are in West Philly and Ardmore.

Now, let’s all start taking bets on how long the line will be on opening day.
