Profile

This isn’t the Palm—we’re in Bala Cynwyd—but Alex Plotkin is here. And where longtime Palm manager Plotkin goes, the dry-aged steaks, full-bodied wines and power players follow. Expense-account standards like filet mignon and swordfish chops are served in a dark-mahogany dining room with tin ceilings; booths are set with Riedel stemware. But this end of City Line is more accustomed to the prices of Friday’s and Chili’s (the location was formerly Marabella’s), so Plotkin has adopted a simple philosophy: “I want to give people a lot for their money.” That includes a California-heavy wine list with more than half the bottles under $50; the popular 10-ounce New York strip for $24; and 10-ounce martinis for under $10.
