What's your background; education and training?

University of Pennsylvania - BA - Economics

Association of Image Consultants International (AICI) - Certified Image Consultant (CIC)

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

New customers are welcomed in and greeted at the door. We begin by offering a beverage (water; coffee; or alcohol) and start with a conversation on the comfortable couches in our showroom. We want to get to know the potential customer; their needs; why they've scheduled an appointment with us; and what their goals are. From there; we take them through an education on how suits are made at varying qualities and why the price ranges as much as it does. The client ultimately makes an educated decision as to where they see themselves; and then we help them style the garment to fit their body and occasion for wearing it before finally taking measurements and beginning to craft their garments.

What advice would you give a customer looking to find a provider in your specialty?

If the first thing a custom shop does is show you fabric; be very suspicious. You're missing a lot of the experience we offer by jumping right into picking a look and getting measured. We spend a good 30 minutes getting to know our customers; another 30 minutes educating; and then finally get into starting to choose and design. There are a lot of sales people out there that don't even know they are misrepresenting what true custom clothing is and often times the quality of fit or make is subpar as a result.

What inspired your passion for your profession?

I have seen the power that clothing can have in affecting someone's life. My clients get noticed; remembered; build trust more quickly; and ultimately accomplish their goals faster. I've seen clients come out of their shells; beaming with confidence knowing they are wearing the right thing for them and the situation they have to walk into. The underlying power of what clothing can do; and my desire to help others in an area I struggled with at an early age; drives my passion every day. It all starts with a good basic education and helping our guys to understand the set of rules that exist; when to follow them; and how and when to break them.

What services are you most excited to offer?

We love teaching our clients and helping them to understand the many options that exist but aren't always apparent; in their choices for clothing. Beginning with what to wear in what situation; and what is right for the client's personality; we take them from start to finish in a 1 on 1 setting giving them the highest amount of personal attention.

What makes your business stand apart?

Image consulting and personal service. We have the knowledge of your personality; profession; audience; and/or situation in mind to help guide you through what can seem like an overwhelming process because of the number of options; but instead make it feel relaxed and fun. At the end of the day; you WILL get complimented on the final product we design and fit for you and you WILL feel amazing!

What should customers know about your pricing?

We are extremely fairly priced and the consulting is a value-added service that makes our products an absolutely tremendous value. We don't discount so you can be certain you're getting the same price as the next guy.

How many years have you been in business?

13 years strong and counting...

What do clients have to say about you?

"The clerk at my local Wawa said; "that's a nice sports coat" when she saw me? Seriously; first day I wear it - and I get a compliment. Previous 40 years - 2 compliments - and I believe those were before I turned 16 and people thought it was cute I was wearing a suit."

"Brian is a true asset if you want to upgrade and maintain your wardrobe. He is thorough and knowledgeable but not pushy; extremely stylish but not judgmental in the slightest. He is the type of guy who will take your game up a notch and you will be better off for knowing him. Brian has dedicated himself to understanding the intricacies of fashion in a practical way. He really is a pro and I highly recommend him."

"I have been getting custom clothes from Henry A Davidsen for years and I love my most recent purchase as much as my first. They fit perfectly; they last and I have always been treated in a way that makes me feel good about being their client. A great business with great people."
