It’s Memorial Day and You Don’t Have Plans

Some last minute options for Monday.

Future Islands plays Union Transfer tonight. (Tom Hines)

Memorial Dei Family Picnic and Festival @ Sexton Sideshow | 11 a.m.-6 p.m.
Sexton Sideshow of Queen Village presents its festival and picnic featuring food trucks, vendors, family activities and live music on multiple stages by Sweetbriar Rose, Kuf Knotz, Pawnshop Roses, Alison Wadsworth, Emmett Drueding and more.

Summerfest @ Rivverrink | 1 p.m.-12:30 a.m.
It’s opening weekend for the party down by the river. Roller skating, mini-golf, food, drinks, etc.

Spruce Street Harbor Park | 11 a.m.-11 p.m.
Summerfest’s chill sister features food, drinks, games, hammocks and lounging around in the sun and shade.

Mordecai @ Philadelphia Record Exchange | 8-11 p.m.
A rare show by fuzzy, noisy rock band Mordecai, from Butte, Montana. They’re like Velvet Underground played through a broken drive-thru speaker system. Sort of. BYO beverage and bring a little gas money for the band.

Future Islands @ Fillmore Philly | 8 p.m.
A little surprised this one’s not sold out. Then again, the Fillmore’s a pretty big room. Synthy Baltimore indie-pop band Future Islands released The Far Field on 4AD back in April to resoundingly positive reviews, but they’re even better loved in the live setting where they like to get louder and looser.

Philadelphia Chinese Lantern Festival | 6-10 p.m.
The bright lights of this annual installation will on shine on Franklin Square through June 11. Lots of food, liver performances, mini golf and such.

Dakhma/Dawn Ray’d/Cruciclit /fluoride @ Kung Fu Necktie | 8 p.m.
Loud as hell metal all night long.

Parks on Tap @ FDR Park | noon-10 p.m.
The traveling beer garden stops by the lakes in South Philly.

Shark Awareness Weekend @ Adventure Aquarium | all day
Go to Camden to learn about shark health, shark eggs, shark adoption and more. Generally speaking, it’s good to be aware of sharks.

Bucket Open Mic @ Good Good Comedy | 7 p.m.
Free comedy. If you wanna perform, throw your name in the bucket.

Open Mic Night @ The Fire | 8 p.m.
Elissa Janelle Velveteen and Bern The Bastard host a night of free music for listeners and players.

A Mirror Maze: Numbers in Nature @ Franklin Institute | all day
Nature’s cool and all but getting lost in a 1,700-square foot mirror maze sounds amazing.
