This is an exhibition of hand-painted film posters created in the 1980s to advertise screenings of bootlegged movies in Ghana — sometimes to villages with no electricity. The inventive creations by these “outsider artists” offer alternate, sometimes fantastical interpretations of the familiar Hollywood properties. The posters are on loan from the Deadly Prey Gallery in Chicago, which is dedicated to collecting these amazing pieces of art (and which has a killer Instagram).
