Thursday: I Set My Friends On Fire at The Troc

Don’t let the name scare you away. This tight-knit group of misfits has an offbeat sound with potential to draw the masses. The band’s musical career kicked off at the same time their high school careers did, back in 2007. I Set My Friend On Fire (ISMFOF) writes, records and produces all their own music remotely. The band will preform hits from their past albums, which showcase their unique sense of humor and mind-melting sense of rock. Listen before you go: “Things That Rhyme With Orange.” Thursday, January 7th, 7 pm.

Listen before you go: “Becoming Insane.” Friday, January 8th, 8 pm.

Saturday: Cold Roses and Linus The Moon at Milkboy

Rob Clancy spent years backing up Philly bands as a guitarist. Recently, the musician made a transition from the background to the forefront and stepped out on his own. Clancy now tours as the lead singer-songwriter in his uniquely formed band, Cold Roses. Their sound incorporates the swagger of rock and roll and heartache of blues with a distinct Philly twang. Linus The Moon is a five-piece ensemble who are slated to rock alongside Cold Roses and grace the evening with a subtle British flavor. Listen before you go: “Tired Of Losing You.” Saturday, January 9th, 8:30 pm.

Sunday: Questlove Supreme at The Fillmore

Another Philly great is set to break in the brand new stage at the Foundry, the top floor of new venue The Fillmore Philadelphia. The Roots musician and producer Questlove will close out next weekend DJing at the Fillmore's "club within a club." Listen before you go: Questlove DJ Set. Sunday, October 11th, 11 pm, The Foundry, The Fillmore.

Philly’s favorite afro-headed DJ will return to his hometown and once again take his place behind the wheels of steel. Watch him perform live this Sunday at The Fillmore. Sunday, January 10th,  11 pm.
