Monday | Tuesday | Wednesday | Thursday | Friday | Saturday | Sunday

Monday: AlunaGeorge at Union Transfer

Londoners Aluna Francis and George Reid, known as AlunaGeorge, are bringing their You Know You Like It tour to Philly. Named for their hit single — which did especially well as a DJ Snake remix in the States — the electronica pair just dropped another catchy collab video with Jack Ü (the EDM duo that includes Temple alum Diplo). Listen before you go: “To Ü ft. AlunaGeorge.” Monday, October 26th, 8:30 pm.

Tuesday: Trevor Hall at World Café Live

It’s not uncommon for Americans to treat Eastern spirituality as a religious/fitness fad, but South Carolinian Trevor Hall walks the walk. His use of Sanskrit and reggae rock brings his childhood love of music together with his devotion to his faith. Tuesday October 27th, 8 pm.

Wednesday: Cold War Kids at the Fillmore

After releasing a deluxe version of their 2o14 album Hold My Home last month, Cold War Kids are bringing their tour to the East Coast for October. A version of the folk group Elvis Perkins in Dearland will join them as musical accompaniment as Dearland Horns. Listen before you go: “Miracle Mile.” Wednesday, October 28th, 8 pm.

Thursday: Big Freedia at TLA

The Queen of Bounce and her Divas are back with her fall Bounce Shakedown Tour, and showing Philly how to work New Orleans style. Step aside teens and tweens — with a Guinness World Record for most people twerking simultaneously under her belt, Freedia means business. Listen before you go: “Excuse.” Thursday, October 29th, 8:30 pm.

Friday: Ringo Starr at Tower Theatre

Even as the band changes, there’s only one Ringo — and he’ll be performing in Tower Theatre this weekend. This past year the former Beatle released his 18th solo studio album, Postcards From Paradise, and celebrated his 75th birthday in the summer with a moment of #PeaceandLove. Listen before you go: “Never Without You.” Friday, October 30th, 8 pm, Upper Darby.

Saturday: Sun Ra Arkestra at Johnny Brenda’s

If you’re looking for an interesting show for Halloween look no further. Sun Ra was a musician and composer who was literally out of this world (he claimed he was from Saturn). The band continues his afro-futuristic legacy as they return to one of their adopted hometowns of Philadelphia. Listen before you go: “Face the Music/Space is the Place.” Saturday, October 31st, 9 pm.

Sunday: Gary Clark Jr. at the Fillmore

Appearing alongside greats like Joe Walsh, Dave Grohl, Eric Clapton and the late B.B. King, Gary Clark Jr. has held his own as a guitarist as he brings his own classic sounds of blues, rock and roll, and folk. His soulful and at times hymnal voice rings through on his latest album, The Story of Sonny Boy Slim, which has an undercurrent of faith and hope amidst problematic times. Listen before you go: “The Healing.” Sunday, November 1st, 8:30 pm.
