Miley Cyrus Coming Back to Philly

With her backup band, the Flaming Lips.

Miley Cyrus and her Dead Petz (aka the Flaming Lips) have tacked on Philly to a limited-run club tour of six U.S. cities. She’s coming to the Electric Factory on December 5th.

The singer is back in the public eye again after hosting stints on the MTV Music Awards and this weekend’s debut of the 41st season of Saturday Night Live. In the middle of all that she released a new album, Miley Cyrus & Her Dead Petz, a stripped-down, no-twerking-in-sight collaboration with Flaming Lips that she dropped for free via her Smiley Miley record label in August. She performed two songs from the album on SNL this weekend, including this particularly soul-baring number:

Cyrus’s stop in Philly will be a reunion of sorts. One of the last times she was here, when she was in town with her then-boyfriend Liam Hemsworth who was making a film with Harrison Ford, she fell in love with Philadelphia. She later told Rolling Stone that her time here was “the best summer ever,” when she got to know herself better and became (for better or worse) the Miley we know today. “Have you ever been to South Street in Philly? That’s where I got my first chain. Sixteen bucks — not real,” she told Rolling Stone. “I was away from people for a minute, and I just started feeling my own vibe. I bought a pair of Doc Martens. I shaved my head. Driving a fucking Ford Explorer around. Just blending in.”

Cyrus is coming to the Electric Factory on Saturday, December 5th. Tickets are $69 (of course they are) and will go on sale this Wednesday, October 7th. More details and ticket links here.
