Pavarotti Coming to Prince Theater … Sort Of

Some of the biggest names in classical music—the late Luciano Pavarotti, Plácido Domingo, José Carreras, Sondra Radvanovsky, Ekaterina Gubanova—are coming to Philly this fall, at least in digital spirit, as the Prince Theater launches yet another innovative series of programming that will feature big-screen broadcasts of performing arts.
The series kicks off on September 29th with Bellini’s Norma, featuring the remarkable Sondra Radvanovsky (I’ve seen her perform this role at the Met and it is truly unmissable) and Ekaterina Gubanova in Kevin Newbury’s production at the Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona.

On October 19th, the great Pavarotti will entertain modern audiences with Pavarotti and Friends, featuring the late singer performing with Mariah Carey, Celine Dion, Lionel Richie, Elton John, Sting, Bryan Adams, Bon Jovi, James Brown, and more.
The Antonio Gades Company will invade the Prince on November 30th for a screening of Movimeientos Flamenco. Director Hugo Pérez de la Pica’s production was filmed live at the Teatro Real in Madrid and features the choreography of Stella Ara.
The fall season closes with even more Pavarotti, but this time, he’s joined on stage with the iconic Plácido Domingo and José Carreras. Together, they make up the legendary Three Tenors, who will present The Three Tenors Christmas Concert on December 20th and 27th.
