Time is reporting that Philly favorite Bradley Cooper is currently in talks to remake the 1937 film A Star is Born. Cooper is being vetted to direct the film about a young Hollywood actress who is somewhat indebted to an older alcoholic actor who launched her career.

The talk on the street is that Beyonce may very well be the star of the upcoming film. The remake has been a pet project for Warner Brothers folks for years, and according to Time, it appears that the Cooper development has reinvigorated talks with the pop diva to perform in the film:

“Warner Bros. have been working on a remake of A Star Is Born for a while and initially considered Beyoncé as the favorite to take the female lead. She may now be re-approached, Deadline Hollywood reports, while Cooper could play the male lead himself.”

This wouldn’t be the first time that the film was remade: Most notably, Judy Garland starred in the 1954 version, and Barbara Streisand was in the 1976 version.
