The Lush Spa is rolling out a new treatment, and it's a sensory explosion.

All you need is love … and a really relaxing deep-tissue massage. Now you can get both right here in Philly. Lush Spa, located in the rear of the bath-and-body emporium of the same name on Walnut Street (and one of only two in the nation), is launching a new massage this month themed around The Beatles, and it’s a pretty wild ride.

The 75-minute treatment, aptly titled “Hard Days Night,” isn’t a typical massage: To start, guests are asked to don a pair of big, fluffy pajamas before they even hit the massage table. Then, things get interesting: Lush’s music director (yes, they have one) has developed a unique soundtrack that has taken music from the Fab Four and re-worked it to be more appropriate for a sensory experience. Local Liverpool bands perform covers of just about every iconic Beatles song while specially trained Lush massage therapists work their magic.

Perhaps the coolest segment of the treatment is one that is inspired by Cirque du Soleil’s Beatles LOVE show: Therapists use specially designed bands, similar to the ones used by performers in the high-flying stunt show, to stretch guests’ legs in a series of aerial moves to release tension. At the end of the treatment, guests are welcome to “nap” (literally) and then take in a hot cup of tea.

The Beatles-themed extravaganza will set you back $175, but something tells me hard-core Fab Four and Lush lovers, along with those who are just dying for a break from the everyday, will find it worth every “Penny Lane.” (Sorry, had to!)
