TONIGHT: Monster Mash Up at The Franklin Institute

Franklin-Institute

Ghostly meets geeky at The Franklin Institute tonight, and you’re invited.

The monthly adults-only series, Science After Hours, always delivers clever programming for Philly’s brainiest inhabitants. Explorations of interesting topics are coupled with hands-on experiments, intriguing discussions, and demonstrations—with cocktails on the side, of course. Tonight, The Institute is embracing October’s spine-chilling spirit with a Halloween-themed event.

Get appropriately ghoulish at the Monster Mash Up bash, where you’ll uncover myths about your favorite ghosts, goblins, and villainous movie monsters—“from Freddy to Frankenstein”—with the help of biology and forensics experts. Explore how adrenaline effects the mind and body, making the creepiest of characters tick. Plus, make your own ectoplasm, or discover how thermal imaging maps corner dangerous prey. Tons of eerie activities await you, all accompanied by a cash bar serving cocktails, wine, and beer. Think of it as  a little liquid courage for the easily spooked among us.

Costumes are welcome, sans scary face masks. Tickets are available for purchase online. For more information about Science After Hours, click here.

Monster Mash Up: Tuesday, October 14th, 6:30 p.m.-9:30 p.m., 21+, $15 general admission or $10 for members, The Franklin Institute, 2nd floor, 222 N. 20th Street.
