Rock Docs: Monterey Pop @ National Museum of American Jewish History | Thursday, December 8
Tied to the “Bill Graham and the Rock & Roll Revolution” exhibit (up through January 16th, 2017), the NMAJH is screening concert documentary Monterey Pop, about the 1967 music festival featuring Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, the Grateful Dead and other storied artists. Tickets include access to the exhibit. Before the film, World Café Live is throwing a Summer of Love party at the museum with live music.

The Nightmare Before Christmas @ CineMug | Thursday, December 8
Jack Skellington, the king of Halloween Town, can’t quite wrap his skeleton head around the idea of Christmas Town in Tim Burton’s creepy holiday movie from 1993. The screening is BYOB.

Rocky @ Kimmel Center | Saturday, December 10
You know Philly couldn’t let the 40th anniversary of Rocky slide by without some fanfare. Philadelphia magazine’s Victor Fiorillo is hosting two screenings of the film — a crisp new 4K digital version — in the Kimmel Center’s Perelman Theater, at 3 and 8 p.m. Part of the proceeds from ticket sales go to the Philly Contraption Contest, a nonprofit engineering competition for kids.
