WATCH: M. Night Shyamalan Releases Trailer for Wayward Pines

The trailer for M. Night Shyamalan’s new television series, Wayward Pines, debuted last night during the season finale of Empire.

Flavorwire says the show, based on the  novel Pines by Blake Couch, may be the creepiest thing on TV this season. “It looks to combine the horror of the campy small-town tranquility aesthetic of Twin Peaks and the self-sequestering village plot line of The Village.”

The show, created by Matt Hodge and executive produced by Shyamalan, stars Matt Dillon as a Secret Service agent who gets caught up in the “evil underpinnings” of a strange little town. Juliette Lewis and Terrence Howard will be in it, too.

Unlike many of Shyamalan’s project, Wayward Pines wasn’t filmed in the Philly, because, as Greater Philadelphia Film Office Executive Director Sharon Pinkenson told NBC10, “the Philadelphia area just didn’t have the dense pine forests with cliffs overlooking the sea.” Instead, it was filmed in Vancouver, British Columbia.

Still worth a watch to see how Shyamalan translates to the small screen. Check out the trailer above, and set your DVR for its debut on May 14th on Fox.
