This week, The Philadelphia Orchestra is performing its 2014 holiday show, “The Glorious Sounds of Christmas,” led by visiting British conductor Bramwell Tovey.

Tovey stopped by KYW this week to promote the show, and to share a holiday tune he wrote about Philadelphia: “The Rittenhouse Carol.”

The song, he says, “came to me while I was walking around the shops when I was here for Christmas two years ago.”

Hear a snippet in the video player below. He starts talking about it around the 1:20 mark.

You can hear the song in its entirety at “The Glorious Sounds of Christmas,” taking place tonight at the Kimmel Center at 7 p.m. Details here.
