Breakfast at Tiffany's
Hey, Golightly lovers: head to Movie Monday at The Trocadero for a screening of the 1961 Hepburn classic, Breakfast at Tiffany's. Bring a sensitive, bookish date and leave humming "Moon River." Science After Hours: Guilty Pleasures
Sometimes it feels really good to be bad. This week's Science After Hours at The Franklin Institute is devoted to some of your guiltiest pleasures, like Ben & Jerry's binges and Real Housewives marathons. Demonstrations, discussions, and activities will embrace all of your indulgences, including television-themed quizzo, autotune karaoke, and a lesson in blood-alcohol observation. German Christmas Dinner at Brauhaus Schmitz
From Foobooz: Starting on Tuesday, November 11th, St. Martin’s Day, and ending on December 21st, Brauhaus Schmitz chef Jeremy Nolen will be preparing traditional a German Christmas Dinner for parties of eight or more. The dinner will feature a 10-pound whole roasted goose, served family-style, stuffed to the brim with house-made pretzel, apple and sage stuffing. More details here.


First Person Arts Festival
First Person Arts Festival–dedicated to the art of story-telling–continues this week, with performances worth checking out. Lava Fossil (Wednesday, November 12th and Thursday, November 13th), a one-person show performed by Beth Nixon, explores themes of loss using topics from dinosaurs to dentists. Also catch popular comedian and best-selling author Ruby Wax (pictured) with a talk based on her latest novel, Sane New World. You can find a full schedule of events here. Philadelphia Asian American Film Festival
The Philadelphia Asian American Film Festival (PAAFF) begins this week, bringing dozens of culturally relevant films and a lineup of exciting programming to our neighborhood. The fest will kick off Wednesday evening with a screening of A Leading Man, a film written and directed by Steven J. Kung. Films and events will run through Saturday, November 22nd. The (curious case of the) Watson Intelligence
Head to Azuka Theatre this week to catch the Philadelphia premiere of The (curious case of the) Watson Intelligence, a Pulitzer Prize finalist written by Madeleine George. The sci-fi, time-traveling play follows four different Watson's, one of whom is Sherlock Holmes' faithful sidekick. The play examines a repetitive love triangle, the way we communicate with one another, and how technology has shaped our existence. For more information and showtimes, click here. Parker Millsap
The Ardmore Music Hall will host Parker Millsap and The Bailey Hounds this Wednesday night. Millsap is a baby-faced 21-year old crooner hailing from Oklahoma, who sings down-home Americana and picks a mean acoustic guitar. His sets are energetic and his voice so addicting that you'll want to dance and/or shoot whiskey with him. Preview his tunes before you go right here. Tickets are available for purchase online. SUP Yoga at Bee Inspired Yoga
From Be Well Philly: Bee Inspired Yoga in Woodstown, New Jersey, is taking SUP practice indoors this week with two classes aimed at mimicking on-the-water SUP classes. They’re done on wood balance-board decks called Indo Boards that offer the same stability challenges as stand-up paddleboards: namely, they wobble. The classes are happening this Wednesday at 4:30 and 6:15 p.m., both 90-minutes long. Previous SUP or Indo Board experience is not required. The classes cost $30. More details here.


Anjelica Huston: Watch Me
Academy Award-winning actress, Anjelica Huston, will discuss her new coming-of-age memoir, Watch Me, at the Central Library this Thursday evening. Huston will talk with Philadelphia Inquirer film critic Steven Rea about prominent moments from her career and personal life including her seventeen-year relationship with Jack Nicholson, the death of her father, director John Huston, and her marriage to Robert Graham.
