Norristown’s Theatre Horizon has unveiled the lineup for its 10th anniversary season, which Artistic Director Erin Reilly says is all about “giving voice to the voiceless.” Known for producing challenging yet inspirational dramas, Theatre Horizon’s upcoming season will include works by Stephen Sondheim and Suzan-Lori Park, with the stories and actors aiming to reflect the diversity of the local theater community.

The 2014-2015 season will feature the following three productions:

The Syringa Tree: Directed by Steve Pacek, the heartening play by Pamela Gien follows a young girl living under South Africa’s apartheid, telling the story of two families separated by racism, yet connected by a shared hope of eventual forgiveness. Running October 16th to November 9th.

Into the Woods: Based on the book by James Lapine, the story about a baker and his wife–intertwined with time-honored fairytale characters–focuses on relationships, growing up, and the sacrifices we make to watch our dreams come true. The new take on the Sondheim classic will feature several of Philadelphia’s most powerful singers, directed by the theatre’s resident director, Matthew Decker. Running February 5th to March 1st.

In the Blood: By Suzan-Lori Parks, this modern retelling of The Scarlet Letter shows Hester, a homeless mother, fight against society in the pursuit of a better life for her five children. Running April 23rd to May 17th.

Subscription packages for all three plays run between $62-108 and are available for purchase online. Single tickets are not yet available for purchase, but will be priced between $34-40. More information about Theatre Horizon is available here.
