Monsignor Lynn Sentenced to Three to Six Years in Prison
Monsignor William Lynn has been sentenced to three to six years in prison. The sentence comes after a jury deliberated for 13 days before finding Msgr. Lynn guilty of endangering the welfare of a child in the coverup of the sexual abuse scandal in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia. Lynn’s attorneys had argued that prison would be a “cruel and unusual” sentence. They suggested that Msgr. Lynn serve his sentence via house arrest. Prosecutors sought the maximum sentence of seven years in prison.
