Weekend Shopping Report: 6 Can’t-Miss Columbus Day Sales
Whether you’re a fan of Columbus or not (in which case, you might be happy to know that some states are changing it to ‘Indigenous Peoples Day’), you can’t argue that the controversial holiday does give the excuse to hit up some sweet sales before the incoming chaos of Black Friday. Like always, we’ve selected the best local sales and events going on this weekend for your inner explorer to discover.
Shop Sixty Five Grand Opening: Last month, we spilled all the details on Shop Sixty Five’s move from the Main Line to a new Rittenhouse space, and now you get a chance to see things for yourself. Head there tonight for a Grand Opening Party, complete with a DJ, complimentary cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, and a special prize raffle. Friday, October 9th, 6pm-10pm. 1921 Walnut Street, Rittenhouse, 267-239-5488.

Old City Fest: This weekend, over 100 of Old City’s talented artists, boutiques and vendors showcase their best wares at this all-day festival. Expected to draw thousands, this year’s lineup includes an afternoon runway show on Third and Cherry Street featuring fall collections from MADE Studios students, awesome looks from mobile boutique Smak Parlour, and fashion co-op US*U.S. And, of course, there’s plenty of time for shopping at our favorite Old City boutiques, like Lost + Found, Sugarcube, and Third Street Habit. Sunday, October 11th, 12pm-6pm. Along North 3rd Street (from Market to Race) and Arch Street (from 2nd to 4th). Call 215-592-7929 for more information.
Philadelphia Fashion Alliance SS16 Launch Event: Update your Sunday brunch plans to include a little retail R&R at the Philadelphia Fashion Alliance’s launch event. The alumni group is featuring seven ready-to-wear collections by independent (and awesome) Philadelphia designers, such as the bold and inspiring Terese Sydonna and boho-fabulous Senpai + Kohai. Attendees will get a complimentary champagne brunch and have a chance to meet the designers and preview their upcoming Spring 2016 collections. Be sure to peep PFA’s Facebook event for more information and RSVP here for a chance to win fashion sketches and accessories by the designers.
