After shoe repair standby Superior announced it was closing in December, and the sudden shuttering of Liberty Shoe Service back in August, lots of Philadelphians wondering where the heck they should take their shoes now. So we called up some of the people who would know best: The owners and staffers of Philly’s best shoe stores. Here is where they go — and where they send their customers.

Liz from Third Street Habit, Old City: “I just went to Benjamin‘s Restoration Center this morning and picked up two pairs of shoes; I think they’re great. ”

Benjamin’s Restoration Center, 138 1/2 South 8th Street, Old City., 215-923-2933.

Nicholas from Benjamin Lovell Shoes: “Villa’s Shoe Repair on 19th and Spruce, Benjamin’s on Jeweler’s Row, and Guaricela’s on 15th and Spruce. Girls from the store have taken shoes to Villa; their stuff has come back great.”

Villa’s Shoe Repair, 266 South 19th Street, Rittenhouse, 215-545-5837.

Guaricela’s Shoe Repair, 275 South 15th Street, Center City, 215-732-8606.

Aubrie from BUS STOP Boutique: “Capa on 10th and Chestnut. They have a lot of experience, and they’re great with high-end leather repair. They’re amazing.”

Capa Shoe & Leather, 1015 Chestnut Street, Washington Square West, 215-923-0990.

Amber from Stuart Weitzman: “Villa on 19th. They specialize in suede.”

Tung from ToBox: “We send our shoes out to a cobbler in Ardmore, Rossi. They’re great.” ( Psst: If you bought shoes at ToBox that need fixing, they will send them out to Rossi for you.)

Rossi Shoe Service, Ardmore, 610-642-9464.

Jeff from Allen Edmonds: “Our shoes get repaired through our own company; we have a re-craft service.” (Tip: You can bring your Allen Edmonds shoes back to the store to have them fixed.)
