On the Market at the Shore: Beachfront Moderne in Longport
This striking house right on the beach takes its design cues from the style that transitioned us from Art Deco to the modern.
Make no mistake about it, this beauty on the beach in Longport is thoroughly modern and very much up to date, as it dates only to 1990.
But as the exterior photo above should make clear, this house has a Moderne soul.
You can see it in the curved expanses of single-pane windows on its prime-view rounded corner.
And you can see it in the extensive use of glass block on the main staircase and in its bathrooms.
But truth to tell, all this is not why you want to buy this house for sale. You want to buy it because of what you can see from it.
And that’s a great view of the ocean from both inside and out. Five of this house’s six decks face the ocean, giving you plenty of places from which to watch the waves roll ashore and the sunrise in the morning.
Two of those decks are open to your guests: the large deck just off the front entrance and the nearly as large one off the second-floor living room. (Even though this house has a living room-like family room just off the foyer, it’s actually an upside-down house, at least in part.)
The other three are private, including the one attached to this house’s top-floor master suite. Imagine having your morning coffee on this deck, floating above it all as the sun starts its climb.
The totally open main floor combines a living room, dining room, breakfast nook and kitchen with breakfast bar. This arrangement should make entertaining a snap.
Getting from floor to floor is also a snap because this house has an elevator in addition to its stairs.
Given its location and amenities, I don’t expect this place to remain a house for sale for long. Not even at the prices beachfront real estate command.
