First-Time Find: A Place to Park Yourself in Belmont Hills
The purpose of this weekly feature is to showcase outstanding properties first-time buyers can afford. So far, we’ve shown a compact but comfortable home in a great school district in Queen Village and an absolute knockout in Fishtown. So we got to wondering: Can we find anything like these on the Main Line?
It turns out that we could. The difference is, this place has plenty of neighbors already built in.
That’s because it’s a recently refreshed condo in The Greenhouse, a handsome 1970s multi-unit building in bosky Belmont Hills.
This sixth-floor unit got a makeover recently that updated its bathrooms and kitchen, so you will enjoy up-to-date design, appliances and fixtures in the rooms where those things count. That also goes for the high-efficiency washer and dryer, installed at the same time.
The nature lover in you will appreciate the leafy green views from your unit’s balcony, which looks out upon the treetops. You might for a moment slip into a reverie, thinking you live in a forest.
That’s not too far off the mark, though, for both McMoran and Merion Memorial parks are within sight of your unit. Merion Memorial Park, in fact, is just down the street. Or you can just take the elevator down to the ground floor and relax by the pool.
Not much further away are two historic cemeteries, Westminster and West Laurel Hill. But maybe more important is what’s just down Belmont Avenue from those places: Manayunk, home to great shopping, dining and entertainment options. You can also hop on the Schuylkill Expressway for an easy commute to Center City and King of Prussia, or catch SEPTA’s Manayunk/Norristown Regional Rail line to head into town or out to Conshohocken.
