Joseph Reilly Gets Prison Sentence in Property Management Scam

The former realtor diverted more than $1M in funds to himself.

Pro tip: Acting as a property manager and pocketing those monthly rent and utility checks is illegal. Joseph N. Reilly, former owner of Reilly Real Estate on the 1700 block of South Street, was sentenced yesterday to 26 months in prison for mail fraud. He defrauded “about 50” clients of more than $1 million over roughly two years between January 2009 and April 2011, according to the Daily News.

Reilly, who used the money to cover mounting business expenses, plead guilty back in May.
