We’ve been looking forward to the proposed building at 15th and Walnut ever since Inga Saffron gave it a rave review last spring. Finally, after almost a year of waiting, demolition has commenced at the site. Sister site Foobooz posted photos of the demo here, and is holding a contest for best suggestion for the retail space. The winner gets VIP tickets to the Rittenhouse Row festival.

The glass box building design comes courtesy Apple Store architecture firm Bohlin Cywinski Jackson, which previously did the 30th Street Post Office adaptive reuse renovation. The retail tenant will be on the first floor and the Cheesecake Factory will be on the second.
