New Yoga Center Comes to 20th and Spring Garden, Perfect Fit for the Greenway

Dhyana Vitarelli will have a soft open of her new yoga studio, the Seva Center, on May 1st. It’s a bit different from her four other centers–it has a focus on charitable giving. (“Seva” means “selfless service” in Sanskrit.) All proceeds from the classes will go toward CHOP for now and then on causes chosen by the students.

It’s the kind of community-building endeavor that would be a perfect fit for the Spring Garden Street Greenway, the beautiful and hallucinatory vision of greatness that would use Spring Garden Street as a natural bike and walk pathway from river to river.

The Greenway would bring Spring Garden back to its former glory with plantings and by narrowing the street lanes. It would make it more of a boulevard with people strolling, and foster cross-city transportation via bike. We can absolutely imagine people jetting over to yoga class on their bikes, getting in some good, charitable oms and downward dogs, and then zipping off again in eco-friendly fashion.

Somehow, though, we don’t think the Greenway will be ready by the Seva Center’s grand opening, May 15th.
