About

Nestled amidst the tranquil surroundings of Plymouth Meeting and drawing students from over 15 zip codes, Plymouth Meeting Friends School is an intimate community that embodies the Quaker values of simplicity, equity, integrity, and peace. Our focus on being a PreK-6th grade school enables us to honor the precious and joyful time of childhood. Our picturesque campus provides ample opportunities for outdoor education and exploration. With small class sizes and nurturing teachers, children learn how to think critically, deeply and creatively. Distinctive programs such as multi-day trips in 2nd-6th grade, circus arts in 4th grade, and our Mexican Exchange Program in 5th grade help build resilience and independence, creating students who are well prepared for success as they move on to larger private and public middle schools. PMFS is a place where diversity is embraced as we are committed to preparing our students to navigate an interconnected world and become compassionate, responsible and engaged global citizens.

What is your teaching or educational philosophy?

Young children thrive on being known. At Plymouth Meeting Friends School, every student at every age is an integral part of our community. Our focus on the elementary years allows each grade to have its own special role in the life of the school, with special benchmarks and traditions. Following developmentally-appropriate practices, our faculty is committed to seeing and honoring each child for who they are, both encouraging and challenging them to achieve and understand their potential. We believe that the development of resilience, self-advocacy and independence in young children results in graduates who become capable young adults ready to face the challenges of higher education and a rapidly changing world.

What is your mission statement?

Plymouth Meeting Friends School provides an education based on the Quaker belief that there is that of God in everyone. Through its nurturing environment, the school offers an intellectually challenging and creative academic program to a diverse student body. Supported by adults who model respect and understanding, students reach toward individual strengths as responsible members of a community of learners.
