We Love This Chic, Modern (And Totally Philly) Cricket Club Wedding

By ·

For a modern, upscale, totally Philadelphia wedding, check out Sarah Finkelstein and Kyle Earl‘s pretty October fete. The couple hosted their Big Day at The Philadelphia Cricket Club. They wandered around the city taking gorgeous shots near City Hall and the Union League beforehand. See how the day unfolded in these gorgeous shots captured by Justin James Muir[1] from We Laugh We Love[2].

This artistic pair met their freshman year of college at the Art Institute of Philadelphia—Kyle was studying graphic design, while Sarah was studying interior design. She recalls of their first meeting: “My first impression of Kyle was ‘look at this handsome guy!’ With his oversized T-shirt, curls below his shoulders, and grey beanie, my nineteen-year old self was totally swooning. I look at old pictures from that night and still smile.” Kyle knew right away too—he says, “Sarah just had this aura about her that showed kindness and she just seemed really fun. She was a woman I needed to get to know.”

Their first date was during winter break. They had three weeks off, which meant Kyle was at home in West Milford, New Jersey and Sarah was home in Cheltenham, Pennsylvania. After a lot of texting, phone calls and Facebook videos, the two arranged a date at the end of break. They went to the movies, and afterwards, they hung out “just eating chicken fingers and French fries and just laughing for hours,” Sarah recalls.

After they dated for seven and a half years, and moved to Brooklyn together, Kyle proposed to Sarah over dinner at Sauvage, a restaurant they’d always wanted to go. “At the end of the dinner he turned to me and said ‘Sarah Jane Tziporah Miriam Finkelstein …’ (my full name) and went into the sweetest speech. I honestly thought he was kidding. And then he pulled out the ring.” It was Sarah’s dream ring, which the couple had looked at months before at A. Brandt + Son[4]. He asked if she would marry him. She instantly said yes!

After a fourteen month engagement, the pair wed at the Cricket Club. Sarah’s favorite part was the Ketubah signing. “I lasted all day without crying until the Ketubah ceremony, and then it was a lost cause,” she says. Since the couple is so creative, they created all the signage for the wedding and reception. They also made as the guest favors, matches designed by Kyle, themselves. “Between that, the matches and the flowers I feel the whole event was very unique to our personal brand,” Sarah says. The flowers were large feminine florals (a mix of Dahlia, chrysanthemums, garden roses, and foliage) in blush, nude, and golden peach tones.

Sarah and Kyle shared their first dance to “California” by the Lagoons. Their guests and dined on appetizers before enjoying a delicious of options like Seared Chicken breast with artichokes, roasted tomatoes, wild mushrooms or lemon-herb crusted Atlantic salmon with tomato-fennel relish served with roasted red potatoes. Guests danced the night away, and, after sending the couple off with sparklers, went home with charming bespoke designed matches as favors. After  all the celebrations, the happy newlyweds took off for California, where they road-tripped up and down the coast from San Francisco to Santa Barbara, before returning to their home Brooklyn.
