This Snow-Filled Proposal in Fairmount Park is Just Too Cute

Another romantic moment from Philly's first flurries of the season.

There’s no getting around it — Philly’s first snowfall last weekend was straight-up beautiful. While the flurries made a beautiful backdrop for wedding photos, they also framed another magically romantic moment: Nathan Emery’s marriage proposal to Tiffany Young in snow-covered Fairmount Park.

The couple met at Penn, when Nathan was a freshman and Tiffany was a senior, through their involvement in a campus Christian organization. Nathan took a liking to Tiffany’s cute nature and eventually mustered up the confidence to ask her to their formal. One-and-a-half years later, on this past Saturday, Nathan ventured deep into Fairmount Park to set up an area for his proposal. He hung market lights and pictures of dates and other milestones from their relationship from the branches of a frost-covered tree. Candles and rose petals covered the ground. At the center of the display? A heart-shaped sign saying “It’s Forever.”

Later that day, Tiffany was under the impression that she and Nathan were heading into Fairmount Park to take pictures with his fancy new camera. All bundled up and walking through the park, she saw the lights from Nathan’s display and and pointed out that it would make a great spot to take pictures. As they got a little closer, Tiffany thought it might be a memorial, but, upon further investigation, she realized it was for her. Nathan got down on one knee and asked her to spend forever with him. Tiffany — who was so excited and surprised that she barely heard a thing, of course, said yes, and we here at PW were so enchanted by the moment that we couldn’t resist sharing photos — captured by Alison Dunn Photography — with you here.
