A Wilmington Bride Recreated Solange Knowles’s Wedding Dress and Photos

And we are HERE for it.

Here at PW, we LOVE a bride willing to get a little more fashion-y with her wedding day look, so we were immediately smitten when we saw Bria Shelton’s daring ensemble. The 24-year-old wed college sweetheart Eric Brown at Wilmington’s recently closed World Cafe Live this past April, and let’s just say she did NOT go the traditional sweetheart ball gown route. Instead of taking her style cues from Cinderella, she turned to arguably the coolest bride of the aughts: Solange Knowles.

“I knew I wanted a Solange wedding,” says Shelton. “I love that she’s different, and I love that she [did] something no one would expect.”

Shelton tried to go the traditional route when it came to dress shopping, but after she failed to find the Pronovias caped dress she’d been eyeing at Philadelphia Bridal Company, she ordered her plunging V-neck gown from Solace London (click here for a similar style from the brand). Her choker is by Basketball Wives: LA reality star Laura Govan (shop it here), and that stunner of a cape was custom-made right here in Philly by Patricia Cuffee of Cuffee 1 Tailoring.

In keeping with Solange’s all-white wedding party, Shelton’s bridesmaids also wore white ensembles (three of which were purchased through AQAQ) and their nude shoes are by Steve Madden. See more of Shelton’s stylish wedding day — including florals and décor by Philly-based QA Designs — in the photos below.
