Picture of the Week: A Father’s Love
From photographer Joe Dantone:
Melissa got ready for her wedding at her parents’ home, and once she was finished, her dad was waiting patiently to see her. She hid as her dad came up the stairs, and while we had originally told the bridesmaids to stand off to the side of the room so that Melissa and her dad could have a minute for themselves, she popped out and tapped him on the shoulder. He was in shock for a split second, and then he burst into tears. He tried pulling himself together, but everyone in the room had already started crying. It was amazing—I’ve never had such an emotional dad/daughter first look!
As the photographer, you always want to be sure and capture a moment by anticipating what is going to happen ad then exposing correctly for the image and framing it so that the image shows layers—in this case, the bridesmaids and mother crying in the background, the bride in the foreground, and the focus on the dad. It really brings the emotion and the story through the image to the viewer, and I was so glad I managed to grab a really nice frame of this one.
