If you loved the idea of memorializing your bridal look with a custom illustration, wait until you see the amazing watercolor paintings that are coming out of local artist Lisa Howell-Baxter‘s Philadelphia studio—paintings that she can create live during your wedding.

Howell-Baxter’s process works in one of two ways: She can set up shop at your party and work her magic onsite during your event—or she can paint your portrait after the wedding using photos as her guide.

In both instances, she’ll meet with you beforehand to discuss the special moment you want to capture in the painting, whether it’s your first kiss as husband and wife, your first dance, the cake-cutting, or just a portrait of you in your wedding dress.

If you choose to have Howell-Baxter do a live painting, she’ll arrive early to your wedding to set up and start sketching the ceremony or reception venue surroundings, then she’ll paint while the party is happening and do any finishing touches back at her studio. You can expect her to be on-site for about four hours, and pricing starts at $1,200. (In-studio portraits start at $750.)
