Starting this week, when you book your wedding at the Free Library of Philadelphia on the Parkway, it is with the fine folks at Brûlée Catering that you will be working to design the menu, beverage service and layout of your party. The event company helmed by Chef Jean-Marie Lacroix that runs so many other popular venues in the city—the Please Touch Museum, Moulin at Sherman Mills, Center City Parks, to name a few—has just taken over the landmark space as the exclusive caterer for weddings and events.

There are two main party spaces at the Free Library: There’s the Beaux-Arts Main Lobby, which has a capacity of 250 and the options to have, say, your ceremony on the grand staircase and your cocktail hour on the second floor landing (see the pics below).

And then there’s the adjoined Skyline Room and Terrace, which have a combined capacity of 290. When using both, you might opt to have cocktail hour outdoors (the space can also be tented) where your guests can sip their drinks while taking in the seriously awesome views of the city’s skyline and then bring them inside for dinner—or you could opt just for the newly renovated Skyline room without the use of the Terrace, which then has a capacity of 140 for a seated dinner with a dance floor. (You can’t just rent the Terrace.)

The team at Brûlée will work with you to figure out which space would work best for you, and to design both the style (stations! Seated multi-course dinner!) and substance of your wedding’s menu. To get that started, get in touch with Laura Weber, Brûlée’s catering sales manager for the Free Library, and she’ll get you off on the right track: 215-923-6000, events@freelibrary.org.
