This past Saturday was the grand opening ceremony of Christmas Village in Philadelphia, right down at LOVE Park near City Hall. It was also the day that Robert Lewin and Moriah Kilgore got engaged!

The couple was in town because it’s a convenient meeting spot between them: Robert, who just returned from deployment in Afghanistan, is stationed with the U.S. Army at Fort Drum in New York, and Moriah is currently living in Virginia.

Apparently, Moriah was under the impression that they had just happened upon the city at the perfect time and were going to take a romantic stroll through the Christmas Village—she grew up in a military family and was born in Germany, so she was particularly enjoying the authentic German Christmas Market—and they stopped in front of the LOVE Statue to snap a photo, as so many do.

But then the music for the grand opening ceremony started, and Robert dropped to his knee and asked her to marry him!

Engaged!

Engaged!

So sweet! We love that Philly will always hold a special place for them, now. Congrats, guys!
