Bride-to-be Blogger Carly: My Surprise Office Shower!

Bride-to-be Blogger Carly: My Surprise Office Shower!

Digital Vision

I have some pretty amazing co-workers, and today I want to thank them for the beautiful shower they surprised me with!

I work in a very fun department at Drexel. A huge part of my work-happiness is due to the amazing people I get to work with each day. I don’t know for sure, but I think it is rare to find a group of 20-plus people who genuinely enjoy each other’s company as much as we do. From laughter-filled lunch breaks to very happy happy hours, we are a group that knows how to have fun. And when there is cause for celebration, we will celebrate.  So I expected that my co-workers would throw me a shower in honor of my up-coming wedding. What I didn’t expect was when or where.

A few fake meetings were set up to get me both out of the office for set up and then back to the office for the surprise. I walked into the party, thinking I was running into my office (somewhat late, I might add), without any idea of what was about to come.

“SURPRISE!!!!!!!”

The student lounge, in which I work, was transformed into a beach scene, with shells, buckets, and beach balls. There was a delicious spread of sandwiches, salad, a variety of cheeses (my favorite!) and cupcakes in flavors like cookies n’ cream and peanut butter and jelly!

For the next hour I got to mingle with my great work-friends and talk wedding (among other things).  Sean came as an extra surprise at the end, and I was sent home early to enjoy the rest of my afternoon (and write this blog!)

This shower came at the end of a somewhat stressful and very eventful week. I spent a few days slaving over invitations (which have been signed, sealed and hopefully delivered!) And, after some setbacks, Sean and I closed on our first house on Wednesday! So the timing of this celebration couldn’t have been better, because I feel like making it though the week was cause for celebration enough!

I work in the happiest place on earth (move over Disney World!) and am so glad I got to spend another great lunch hour with my awesome co-workers. Shout out to Elaine for putting this all together and being such a savvy trickster! I couldn’t have asked for a better day!
