Bride-to-be Blogger Kathleen: His Bachelor Party and My Shower!

Christopher Robbins

The time has finally arrived. Christian departed this morning for his fun-filled bachelor-fishing weekend in Florida … and I am at home, alone with our dog.

I am very excited for him that he is able to have a trip like this with all of his guy friends, but I have to admit, I am a little sad that he is going to be away for four days. We are barely ever apart from each other for more than twenty-four hours, so this will be a little bit of a struggle (for me at least). I know it is a good thing to miss each other every once in a while, but I’m not excited about going to sleep at night with an empty left side of the bed. However, it may be the perfect opportunity to catch up on some of my favorite trashy reality TV shows. (Guilty pleasure!)

Although this isn’t exactly an ideal situation, I do have a few things going on this weekend to distract me. Not only do I have my hair and make-up trial, it’s my shower weekend! Yay! I really wanted Christian to be around so he could stop in and say thank you to everyone, but it just worked out that the first weekend in May was ideal for all the ladies to have the shower, and for all the dudes to get away for a few days. I guess in the end it is a good thing to have something to look forward to while your future husband is away. Ready for some good quality girl time and champagne!

Oh, and if you are wondering why I decided not to have a surprise shower, it is because I wanted a guarantee that there will be no photos of me in sweatpants. I am trying to be a lady, remember!

Are either of you doing any big trips for your bachelor or bachelorette parties? How do you feel about surprise showers?
