Bride-to-be Blogger Jennifer: The Devil’s in the Details: My Music SOS

With only 10 weeks to go, and many of the big decisions made, Anthony and I feel like things are sailing smoothly. But now, it’s time to revisit those choices and add our personal touches — and then, make the even tougher decisions.

Something very high up on my list — and one task that I think will be the most time-consuming — is the music. I know I briefly mentioned it months ago, but we have not gotten much further in our selections. We do have a DJ selected, though, who tells us they can be as hands-on or hands-off as we want … And that’s about as far as we’ve gotten.

Since our wedding will take place at our reception venue, we have a lot of control over the music for the ceremony — one detail that I absolutely failed to consider. I am trying to find the perfect songs for the ceremony, and all of the special moments during the night. I think the only thing really decided at this point is the song that my dad and I will dance to, which I’ve listened to a few dozen times over the last few months in an attempt to try to desensitize myself, but I don’t think it’s going to work at all! Other than that, we are still in the dark.

So … I need some suggestions from other brides-to-be, newlyweds, and people with good taste in music. Help! What music worked at your wedding? What music have you banned from the playlist? How specific are you getting with your DJ? Are there any songs that you think are a timeless must for a wedding?
