Bride-to-Be Blogger Danielle: My Sister’s Wedding

This weekend, I took a break from my own wedding plans for my sister’s wedding, at which I was maid of honor. It was a wedding vastly different from the one I am planning — it was a small, intimate gathering at my parents’ home, though more formal than mine will be.

I offered to help her with flower arrangements and bouquets, and also do her hair. The flowers proved to be a challenge, as most of them arrived with frostbite. We salvaged as many as we could, and then added some grocery store flowers to fill in the gaps. We had enough flowers in the end to create arrangements for the three dinner tables (pictured), the ceremony, two bouquets, two corsages and four boutonnieres. Her hair was much easier, I dare say!

I’m glad that I had the opportunity to stand next to my sister as she was married to the man she loves. I’m also glad I had this weekend to stop and put things in perspective for my own wedding day by attending someone else’s.

Have you spent time at someone else’s wedding recently? Helped them with DIY wedding projects? Has it helped you to take time off from your planning to focus on someone else?
