Bride-to-be Blogger Leslie: Invitation Shopping

When I was home for Thanksgiving with my family, my mom and I had a special wedding check list we wanted to tackle and the first thing on the list were the initiations! Since we are fresh under the six-month mark, they are an important thing to focus on at this time.

For my mom the invitations are super important. She feels they set the entire mood and tone for the wedding itself. My mom wants classy, traditional, elegant invitations, and when you mix those three adjectives with the word ‘wedding’ it usually equals expensive!

For me, the invitations aren’t very important. I feel that they are nice to have and I want something that looks good, but I don’t want to spend a ton of money on them. I feel that the invitations are a formal way to invite our family and friends, but then they are just going to go in the trash, and that seems like a waste to me. I would rather put the money towards a band or my shoes or something like that!

In this day and age, I feel that wedding websites hold all the information — more than a traditional invitation can hold. I feel that if we keep the wedding website up to date with tons of information it will prove to be very useful.

But I handed over control of the wedding invitations to my mom since it is important to her, and we are currently in the process of finalizing them — which is very exciting! I can’t believe the wedding is six months away!

How do you feel about invitations? Do you feel they are super important, or not?
