ROUNDUP: 10 Places For Your Big-Day Spray Tan

Check out these local tanning treatments for an extra gorgeous glow when you walk down the aisle …

I often get questions from brides-to-be on where there’s a good place for them to get spray tanned before they don that extremely white dress — especially around this time of year, when we’re just emerging from winter, and our skin hasn’t seen the light of day in oh, say, seven months or so.

The good news is, I always have an answer! There are lots of options in the Philly area for getting a great spray (read: safe!) tan, whether you’re in the city or ‘burbs in either PA or NJ. Now, I personally would do at least one test run at your chosen spray salon before the Big Day, to make sure you get the color and the coverage you like, and to see how many days in advance you should get sprayed — you may find you like the color after it’s faded for two or three days. You’ll be able to talk to the technician about any questions you may have, but before you go, it’s a good idea to keep these things in mind:

  • DO shower, shave and exfoliate before you go
  • DON’T use any scrubs with added oils in them or apply moisturizer after your shower (your tan will slip right off)
  • DO get any nail services—manis and pedis — before getting sprayed
  • DO wear dark, loose-fitting clothing to your appointment
  • DON’T wear a bra, ladies — if you can go without
  • DO wait eight hours before showering again (four at the absolute least)
  • DON’T worry about the orangey residue rinsing off in your tub — it’s just the extra cosmetic tanners that didn’t absorb into your skin
