The Face of Future Leadership: Church Farm School

Stephen Loney is a 1997 graduate of Church Farm School (CFS), an all-boys college prep high school in Exton founded in 1918. A former member of the school’s Board of Directors and, for the past two years, a CFS parent, Loney often refrains, “Church Farm School saved my life.” Adrift in his middle school years, CFS helped Loney to discover his passions. Today, he is a senior litigator at the ACLU—a lifelong dream that came to fruition following careers at Faegre Drinker Biddle & Reath and then Hogan Lovells, both based in Philadelphia. One of the school’s core values is brotherhood and that brotherhood means mentoring other “Griffins.” Loney met Elijah Freeman ’14 through the CFS alumni network and helped him to land an internship and now full-time position at Hogan Lovells. Both have strong passions for social justice—a nod to the school’s other core values of respect, responsibility and integrity—as evidenced by Loney’s current work at the ACLU and Freeman’s active pro bono practice, where he works on matters related to asylum and PA gun laws.
