Good news for those of us who were up all night sweating during the three-day heat wave that’s finally loosened its clammy grip on the city: Philly public pools are about to open!

Swimming season is the best season in Philly. People cool down, neighbors meet neighbors, and kids are elated (except for during adult swim, when adults are elated because of the kid-less pool). Everyone’s happy. And pools are free to use! (In case you didn’t know.)

That being said, we’re here to help you navigate them – especially if you’re a first-time pool-goer. Our “guide” for attending Philly public pools (you really just show up; it’s that easy), includes some handy tips and a list of the best swimming spots in the city.

In the meantime, find the pool closest to you (via Philly Parks & Recreation) and mark its opening date on your calendar.
