As we continue to try to sort out the fracas inside the Old City club that reportedly involved lousy tipper, alleged orgy fan, and, oh yeah, NFL star LeSean McCoy, we were amused to find that he got 10 parking tickets in Delaware County in 2015. He was cited for expired meters, illegal parking, and some other things that you’d expect someone with his I-do-not-give-a-fuck attitude to be cited for.
Some of those cases have been resolved, but for others, district court records indicate that officials haven’t been able to track down McCoy in order to get him a summons. He left the area last football season for a lackluster debut with the Buffalo Bills. (To be fair to the court, we couldn’t find his new home address either.)
According to the court, if McCoy doesn’t do something about the outstanding tickets soon, the procedure is for a bench warrant to be issued for his arrest — which, in the grand scheme of things, probably doesn’t seem like a high priority to McCoy right now. Understandable.
The funniest thing about McCoy’s parking ticket history in Delaware County is that it documents him spending time in places like Upper Darby and Glenolden. If you got a $13 million-plus signing bonus last year, would you be hanging out in Upper Darby? But hey, I guess anything is better than Buffalo.
From the Department of Nobody Asked You comes this little nugget: World’s greatest everything Kanye West appears to have thrown his support behind embattled comedian and accused sexual assaulter Bill Cosby, who turns up in Montgomery County Court next on March 8th for a preliminary hearing. On Tuesday night, Kanye took to Twitter to decree to his 18.5 million followers: “BILL COSBY INNOCENT !!!!!!!!!!” By Wednesday morning, Kanye’s message had been retweeted 35,000 times and “liked” by 40,000 people, but there was also a fierce backlash from folks who wrote responses like, “You have a daughter. Be better.”
What’s unclear is if Kanye really thinks Bill Cosby is innocent, if he’s just trolling people, or if he wants to get as much publicity as humanly possible, given that he has a new album coming out on Thursday.
Last week, Philly chef Michael Schulson (Sampan, Independence Beer Garden, the Borgata’s Izakaya) finally unveiled Double Knot, his long-awaited Japanese spot in the Gayborhood, and over the weekend, tables were about as scarce as pothole-free streets in this town.
Fox 29 morning personality Mike Jerrick found this out the hard way when he showed up looking to have dinner on Saturday night. Jerrick is probably not a man used to waiting for a table (restauranteurs pee themselves when Jerrick and the other on-air talent visit, knowing that they occasionally inform their vast viewership where they’ve been dining), but wait he did. And wait. And wait. And wait. Finally, he got a table and tells The Informant: “We had everything.” His favorites were the bao and yellowtail.
One man who didn’t have to wait was our new mayor, Jim Kenney. Accompanied by a small group, Kenney sailed right in and sampled some items from the robatayaki menu.
Speaking of mayoral weekend dining, former Mayor Michael Nutter turned up at Stephen Starr cantina El Rey, where his party of five was squeezed into a booth built for four. With all of his gainful new employment — Columbia, CNN, Bloomberg — we certainly hope that he picked up the check.
