Police: This Man Kidnapped Woman, Sexually Assaulted Her in Minivan

He grabbed her off the street in Kensington.

The Philadelphia Police Department has released this sketch of a man they say kidnapped a 22-year-old woman at gunpoint early on Friday morning and then sexually assaulted her inside of a minivan he was driving.

According to police, the attack occurred at approximately 5:25 a.m. on Friday as the victim was walking eastbound on the 2000 block of East York Street in the Kensington section of Philadelphia. The suspect, who was not known to her, pulled out a black semiautomatic handgun and forced her into his van, which is believed to be a Dodge or Chrysler model from the early ’90s (you can see it in the below video).

After driving her around briefly, he sexually assaulted her inside of the minivan. Then, say police, he released her at the corner of Almond and Boston streets, less than a mile from the starting point of her terrifying ordeal. He then fled westbound on York Street.

The suspect has been described by police as follows:

Age: 21-25 years of age
Race: White/Hispanic
Sex: Male
Height: 5’7” to 5’10”
Weight: 160
Complexion: Light (possibly mixed race)
Build: Medium
Facial Hair: Thin mustache and narrow strip of hair on
his chin
Hair: Brown
Clothing: Gray hooded jacket with the hood over the
head and jeans.

Police say the suspect should be considered armed and dangerous. If you see him, dial 911. Anyone with information is asked to call Detective Farrell at Special Victims Unit at 215-685-3251.
