Kane to Appear Before Judge Over Firing
We told you Thursday that Attorney General Kathleen Kane had fired the aide who testified against her before the grand jury that recommended she face charges. Now Judge William Carpenter wants to know why.
Now, Carpenter wants to investigate whether Kane’s firing this week of her aide, James Barker, violated the judge’s order protecting witnesses from retaliation.
He has called a hearing for April 27th, before a three-judge panel, and ordered both Kane and special prosecutor Thomas Carluccio to appear and address the issue.
Kane denies the firing was retaliatory, saying instead it was part of a restructuring of the office.
