West Philly’s “Icehouse” Is Demolished

Building that had been covered with ice after fire is torn down.

Well, that was a good run for the “Icehouse,” the West Philly medical center-turned icy tourist attraction after a mid-winter fire:

The “icehouse” of course, became an Instagram fave almost immediately when firefighters who were putting out the blaze doused the building with thousands of gallons of water in subzero temperatures.

After? A whole lot of pictures like this:

Authorities had said they would demolish the building rather than allow it to collapse and endanger nearby citizens during warmer temperatures.
