Robber Rips Cash Register From South Philly Food Mart

A man walked into a convenience store near 12th and Wolf in South Philadelphia and stole the cash register right off the counter.

Police have released surveillance video of a robber coming into a grocery store in South Philly and stealing the cash register.

Cops say a man walked into the Red Sun Food Market II, located on 12th just north of Wolf Street, and took a soda from the fridge and brought it to the counter.

Surveillance footage then shows him running around the counter, hip-checking the clerk out of the way and grabbing the register. He pauses, probably to disconnect a wire, then flees from the store.

He then walked outside, threw the cash register on the ground, opened it and retrieved the money inside. After the clerk came out, he fled. Police say the suspect appears to do contractor or construction work.
