Mayor of Atlantic City: “At Least We’re Not Detroit”

Don Guardian was full of the quips in his State of the City address.

On Thursday morning, Atlantic City Mayor Don Guardian delivered his annual State of the City address from Caesars, which filed for bankruptcy that very same morning.

“You think you had a bad day?” began Guardian. “I woke up this morning and Caesars filed bankruptcy, all three elevators are broken in City Hall, and there’s a major water leak at the public works place.”

Caesars’ bankruptcy wasn’t Atlantic City’s only bad news this week. On Wednesday, New Jersey’s Division of Gaming Enforcement revealed that Atlantic City casino revenues were $2.74 billion in 2014 — just over half of what they were less than a decade ago.

“At least we’re not Detroit,” joked Guardian. It’s at 1:18 in the video below.
