Good Samaritan Stops Bike Theft in Point Breeze

Police say the would-be thief had a gun.

On November 2nd, police say that a man attempted to steal a bike from the 2100 block of Titan Street in Point Breeze until he was interrupted by a good samaritan on a bike of his own. Police say that the would-be thief showed off a gun in his waistband before running away.

South Detective Division is looking to identify and locate the suspect wanted for a robbery in Point Breeze. On November 2, 2014, at 2:48 pm, the 17th District responded to a radio call of a Robbery at 2100 Titan Street.

When police arrived the were met by the Complainant, a 29 year-old male, who stated he observed an unknown male attempting to take the handle bars off a bicycle that was locked to a pole.

When the complainant approached the suspect and questioned what he was doing, the suspect placed his hand on a handgun inside his waistband. The suspect then fled on foot and was last seen west on Titan Street.

Suspect Description: Black male, 40 years-of-age, 6’2”, 240lbs, dark complected, wearing a black leather jacket ¾ lengths, and a black beanie hat.
