Bryn Mawr College Named Top 20 LGBT-Friendly School by Princeton Review

This week, Princeton Review released its annual Most LGBT-Friendly Schools list. There weren’t too many surprises. Private, liberal stalwarts make the top three: Stanford in California, Oberlin in Ohio, and Emerson in Boston. There was one thing that caught my eye, though: UPenn didn’t make it.

If you keep track of lists like these, you know Penn’s always right there at the top. The results came from a survey sent to 130,000 college students across the country. And apparently the local school that impressed them most was Bryn Mawr College, which came in at a none-too-shabby No. 6.

Niche, a site that compiles college reviews and ratings, also agrees. It gives Bryn Mawr an “A” in diversity, noting that, “You will not find a place more gay-friendly than Bryn Mawr College. The Drag Ball at Haverford is very popular, and Bryn Mawr students recently resurrected the Rainbow Alliance on campus.”
